WGC2025 sets different awards as incentives to mobilise and encourage abstracts submission, and also to reward outstanding authors from the industry. Authors applying to the Call for Abstracts could enter the awards through the abstract submission process.
IGU GLOBAL GAS AWARD
The IGU Global Gas Award recognises industry efforts that contribute to the progress of the gas and energy industry. One award will be given and the best project should demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced in the energy sector and provide pragmatic approaches that demonstrate how the adoption of natural gas can deliver positive societal benefit.
The theme for the IGU Global Gas Award is “Energising a Sustainable Future”.
Prize: USD $5,000 & a full waiver on the registration fee
WGC2025 REGIONAL GAS AWARD
The WGC2025 Regional Gas Award celebrates outstanding abstracts from the global gas and energy industry, and recognises innovation and research achievements focusing on different regions. Abstracts should focus on a particular region, as listed below. An author’s region may also be considered.
There will be five awards, one for each of the following regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania, and South and Central America.
Prize: USD $2,000 for each Award
WGC2025 INDUSTRY AWARD
The WGC2025 Industry Award celebrates outstanding abstracts from the global gas industry, and recognises those with significant research
value across various sectors of the industry. Abstracts should correspond to one Call for Abstract theme.
There will be seven awards, one for each theme:
Theme 1: Supply, demand, market and prices
Theme 2: Gas narratives under the new context
Theme 3: New momentum for LNG
Theme 4: Digital transformation
Theme 5: New gases and energy transition
Theme 6: Methane emission mitigation
Theme 7: Best practices through the whole value chain
Prize: USD $2,000 for each Award
Judging Panel
A Judging Panel will be organised to select all the award winners. The Panel will consist of professionals from various regions and industry sectors around the globe, each with outstanding achievements and profound expertise in their respective fields. They also represent a diverse range of voices and global perspectives within the energy and gas industry. Stay tuned for the list of judges on the Judging Panel!
WGC2025 Awards Selection Process
* The prizes mentioned above are all pre tax amounts, and the taxes, fees, and other expenses incurred from the distribution of the prizes are borne by the winners. Specific details for the distribution of awards will be communicated separately. The WGC2025 National Organising Committee reserves the right to the final interpretation of awards.
